International Chess Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm Through Going Global Club Chess Tournament
To commemorate International Chess Day on July 20, 2026, SAI International School's Going Global Club organised an engaging Chess Tournament for students of Classes IX–X, celebrating the timeless game that fosters critical thinking, strategic planning, creativity, concentration, and sportsmanship. The tournament brought together enthusiastic young chess players in a vibrant atmosphere of intellectual competition and collaborative learning. Conducted in a knockout format, the event witnessed a series of closely contested matches, with participants displaying remarkable focus, resilience, analytical thinking, and tactical brilliance. Each round heightened the excitement as players carefully planned their moves and adapted their strategies to advance through the competition. The tournament culminated in an exciting finale, followed by a prize distribution ceremony where the winners and runners-up were felicitated by the Principal (Secondary). Addressing the participants, the Principal appreciated their discipline, strategic approach, and exemplary sportsmanship while congratulating the organisers for successfully conducting the event. The celebration also highlighted the exceptional efforts of the volunteers of the Going Global Club, whose meticulous planning, efficient coordination, and dedicated teamwork ensured the smooth execution of the tournament. The observance of International Chess Day served as a meaningful reminder that chess is much more than a competitive game. It is a powerful educational tool that nurtures patience, perseverance, problem-solving abilities, logical reasoning, and informed decision-making—essential life skills that empower learners both inside and beyond the classroom.
