SIRS Hosts a Smashing Start to the Sahodaya School Complex Badminton Tournament 2026

SAI International Residential School proudly hosted Day 1 of the Sahodaya School Complex Badminton Tournament 2026 on August 24, 2026, bringing together young badminton talents from participating schools for an exciting celebration of sporting excellence, discipline and fair play.

The tournament commenced with an energetic and dignified inaugural ceremony. Following the arrival and registration of teams, participating contingents assembled for the opening programme, which featured the Flag Hoisting and Declaration of the Tournament Open. The occasion was further enriched by an inspiring address from Shri Amitabh Agnihotri, Associate Director & Headmaster, SIRS, who set an encouraging tone for the competition ahead.

The participating teams then took part in a spirited march past, followed by the solemn oath-taking ceremony and the National Anthem. The opening proceedings reflected the values at the heart of sport, including discipline, respect, integrity, teamwork and the determination to give one's best.

The tournament witnessed an impressive participation, with 23 school teams reporting for the inaugural ceremony. A total of 114 student athletes, comprising 72 boys and 42 girls, enthusiastically took part in the competition. The Boys' Category featured 18 teams, while the Girls' Category saw participation from 11 teams, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for badminton and competitive sports among young learners.

As students from different schools came together on the SIRS campus, the atmosphere was charged with excitement and anticipation. Beyond the competition, the tournament created a valuable platform for young athletes to interact with peers, build friendships, demonstrate teamwork and embrace the spirit of healthy competition.
